Der Stab – die soziologische Eigenheit schon als Kind einen Stab zur Hand zu nehmen sowie die geschichtlichen Verwendungen und Bedeutungen von Stäben sind die Ausgangspunkte dieserArbeit.

Vom Hirtenstab zur Keule, vom Hermesstab zur Drohne – bewachen oder bedrohen, dienend oder angreifend – der Wandel und die Veränderung/ Entwicklung der Objekte und deren Bedeutung/ Verwendung ist oft schwer zu unterscheiden – das Kernthemen dieser Arbeiten.

Ausgehend von einem einfachen „Urstab“ entwickeln sich von Stab zu Stab mehr und mehr Auswüchse/ Fortsätze und letztendlich zu Beinen und Flügeln. An Dornen erinnernd und spitzer und schärfer werdend, zeigen diese zunehmend den Wandel zu anderen, komplexeren Gebilden – und die darin liegende Gefahr anderer Eigenschaften und Verwendungsmöglichkeiten.

Der Wandel der Gestalt führt bei fortschreitender Komplexität zu einem Wandel der Bedeutungen, die immer schwerer einzuordnen sind. das licht verstärkt diese Unsicherheit: die archaisch, martialisch anmutenden Formen, zugleich in warmen, pastellfarbenen und kaltweißem licht getaucht/leuchtend verweisen auf immer zwei Deutungen die in jedem Objekt enthalten sind.

The staff – the sociological peculiarity of picking up a staff already as a child, as well as the historical uses and meanings of staffs are the starting points of this work.

From the shepherd’s staff to the cudgel, from the Hermes staff to the drone – guarding or threatening, serving or attacking – the change and transformation/development of the objects and their meaning/use is often difficult to distinguish – the core theme of this work.

starting from a simple „urstock“, more and more outgrowths/extensions and finally legs and wings develop from stick to stick. reminiscent of thorns and becoming sharper and sharper, these increasingly show the change to other, more complex forms – and the associated danger of other properties and possible uses.

the change in form leads, as the complexity progresses, to a change in meanings that are increasingly difficult to classify. the light reinforces this uncertainty: the archaic, martial-looking forms, simultaneously bathed/illuminated in warm, pastel and cold white light, always refer to two meanings contained in each object.
